The EMA team is comprised of professionals who are highly-skilled in recognizing and servicing the needs of membership associations.

EMA provides on-going training to its staff through ASAE, MPI, PCMA and SCSAE seminars, workshops and the Institutes for Association Management Program which offers the opportunity to learn from experts in specialized fields and network with other association executives to share ideas and learn from others.

Key Personnel

Janine Nichols, IOM, CAE, CPL (Owner) Works in and oversees areas of financial management, office administration, meeting support and communications. She is a member of California Society of Association Executives (CalSAE), American Society of Association Executives (ASAE), National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) and the Society of Logistics Engineers (SOLE). Ms. Nichols has received the designation of Certified Association Executive (CAE), the highest honor of professional achievement from the ASAE. Ms. Nichols has over twenty five years experience in Association Management, working in meeting planning, operations, membership, administration and publications. Prior to her work in association management, Ms. Nichols worked in the field of Logistics. Her responsibilities included Logistics Support Analysis, Life Cycle Costing, Proposal Preparation, Logistics Management and System Integration. She has been active in associations as a volunteer, as well as in her positions in management. Ms. Nichols has held local, regional and international positions within the Society of Logistics Engineers. In addition to her work, she also serves on various volunteer boards and committees. She has served on Advisory Boards for Southern California Edison, and was elected to be a delegate to the 1995 White House Conference on Small Business. In addition to the CAE, Ms. Nichols has also achieved the recognition of Certified Professional Logistician (CPL). Her expertise in both areas ensures that all events, projects and tasks are planned and executed with the utmost care, and makes our firm unique in the Association Management field. Ms. Nichols holds a B.A. in English, an M.S. in Logistics and has completed a six year certification program in Association Management.

Jon Nichols, IOM (Account Executive) Has been with EMA since 1998, working in and overseeing areas of office administration, education and certification, publications and meeting planning. Mr. Nichols is a member of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) and Meeting Professionals International (MPI). Prior to joining EMA, he spent eighteen years working in various management positions at Vons, Inc. Mr. Nichols attended Cal State Northridge, majoring in Business Administration and has completed the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institutes of Organization Management’s 4 year program in Association Management and has earned the IOM designation.

Gillian Newell (Account Executive) Has been with EMA since 1992, working in and overseeing areas of public relations, database management and website design Mrs. Newell has worked in the areas of meeting planning and association management for over twenty years. She is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer. Gillian holds a B.S. in Modern Languages from the University of Bradford, Bradford, England and is fluent in French and Spanish.

Amber Ardizone, IOM (Account Executive) Has been with EMA since 1997, working in and overseeing the areas of membership services and board support. She has worked with volunteer boards for over fifteen years. Prior to her position with EMA, she worked for the County of Los Angeles, Child Services Department.  She has completed the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institutes of Organization Management’s 4 year program in Association Management and has earned the IOM designation.

Charles Wenker, IOM (Programming/Website) Began working for EMA while completing his bachelor’s degree in computer science at the University of Southern California. After graduating in 2005, Mr. Wenker accepted a full-time position with EMA and currently oversees database maintenance and new design programming for all associations. He designs, programs and maintains the websites for several associations and is responsible for ensuring that EMA maintains high standards in information technology. He has completed the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institutes of Organization Management’s 4 year program in Association Management and has earned the IOM designation.


In additional to those listed above, EMA has administrative and data processing personnel to support your association. EMA currently has 6 full time and 2 part-time employees and is committed to growing to meet your needs.
